Working the Land, a Mid Century Modernist study of men labouring at harvest time - a vintage Scandinavian oil on board painting dated 1952.

The artist has created a bold study observing physical labour outdoors at harvest time (painted en plein air) creating a vision of strength with fading light falling across the scene highlighting the worker’s clothes. A muted palette softens the composition with short, fast brush-strokes in raised impasto. An excellent example of Scandinavian mid century modern painting.

•Framed size 45cm x 42cm (17 1/2” x 16 1/2”)
•Very good vintage condition
•Held in its vintage wood frame with a soft silver and gilt grained finish and linen slip with a silver coloured metal edge. Minor marks to the frame and the linen slip is discoloured - consistent with age, please see photos.
