The Golfer by the British artist Frances Tysoe Smith (1853-1927) oil on canvas. The artist has captured the golfer standing at the tee in dappled light under moving clouds casting shadow across the course.

Frances Tysoe Smith was a Cornish School artist and one of the principal women artists active in St Ives between 1907 and 1927. She is listed as a painter in oils and watercolours who lived in Wales and Cornwall and showed at the Royal Society of British Artists, Walker Art Gallery, London Salon and Royal Academy. She shared the Blue Studio with her sister.
Exhibitions: 1920 London Galleries; 1920 and 1923 St Ives Show Day and Spring Exhibition; March 1923 (Watercolours and Oils); Walker Art Gallery, London Salon and Royal Academy.

•Framed Height: 13” x 17” (33cm x 43.5cm)
•Oil on canvas, in very good antique condition - relined.
•Held in a vintage burnished gold frame with marks consistent with age - a decorative vintage finish.
