Nuit Obscure - an exhibited oil on canvas abstract painting from the Paris School Art Movement – Dated 1960 by Georges Van Haardt (1907-1980) French artist of Polish origin. The artist has used raised impasto in fast moving stokes creating texture and movement, a colour palette based from nature finishes the picture. The painting is neatly box framed in its original vintage mid century wooden frame. Exhibition labels to reverse.
Born in Poland in 1907 George Van Haardt studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich before moving to Paris in 1950 to become an important founding member of the Paris School art movement. Known for his dark collages and colourful non-figurative works. The artist exhibited in Paris and London (see exhibition labels to reverse of painting) and post-humous exhibitions were held at the Jacques Barbier Gallery in 1985 and the Polish Library in 2009 and 2014, confirming the influence and recognition of his work.
•Framed size 56.5cm x 47cm (22 1/4” x 18 3/4”)
•The oil on canvas painting is in very good vintage condition, held in its original vintage wooden box frame, with marks consistent with age.
