An outstanding original Mid Century oil on board painting by the highly regarded artist Wilhelm Wik and dated 1951.

The artist has chosen a palette of greens for the composition with black brushstrokes of impasto to form the outline of two figures leading a donkey; a house can be glimpsed through the trees.
Held in a heavy, deep set gilded frame - the painting glows on the wall creating a visually impressive piece of Mid Century art by such an accomplished artist.

Notes on the artist:
Wilhelm Wik was born in Sweden in 1897, he studied at the Carl Wilhelmson art school in Stockholm, the Westminster Art School in London, then moved to Paris where he attended the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere then studied under the French sculptor and painter Andre Lhote. Wik enjoyed solo exhibitions at leading Modern Art galleries in Sweden and Paris. Wik's paintings can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and National Museum in Stockholm and Institut Tessin in Paris.
