A beautiful Mid-Century portrait of a lady knitting, bathed in sunlight, by the artist Mats Mason (1894-1983) the whole captured in vivid colours and confident energetic brushstrokes.

This bold, stylish mid-century painting in the post-impressionist style is by Swedish artist Mats Mason (1894-1983). Mason studied at the Valand School of FIne Art in Gothenburg, Sweden from 1918-1919, before travelling to Paris to continue his studies from 1922 to 1924 at the L'Académie André Lhotel. He also visited Italy and Spain and was known for his figurative painting.

Signed and dated lower left 'Mason'. Oil on Board. Held in its original aged frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, the frame with remnants of paint which add to the visual appeal .
