A French Riviera townscape by the French artist Francois Diana (1903-1993)
Oil on Board Circa 1960/70.
The setting sun casts a warm glow across the scene, with pink hues highlighting the palm trees. Terracotta roof tiles and painted houses are scattered up the hillside; possibly painted in the town of Menton (known as the Pearl of France) on the French Riviera.
•Framed sizing: 65cm x 50cm (25 1/2” x 19 3/4”)
•Oil on board very good vintage condition
•Frame, simple wooden unfinished frame, some marks to the wood.
Notes on the artist: Francois Diana was born 1903 in Marseille and continued to live and work in the region. He studied at Marseille School of Fine Arts and later became Professor of Painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts Marseille. He took many study trips throughout Europe and exhibited widely during his lifetime.
