A still life original oil painting of daffodils by Nan Greacen (1908-1999), born Giverny, France. Oil on canvas laid onto artists board, signed, held in a bespoke handmade frame.
Nan Greacen was born in Giverny, France, where her father, the renowned American Impressionist artist Edmund Greacen, was actively following Claude Monet and a love for painting from nature was instilled in Nan who went on to become a noted artist herself.
Nan Greacen studied at the Grand Central Art School, which her father had established in 1921 and was taught at the school by Edmund Greacen, Wayman Adams, Arshile Gorky and Jerry Farnsworth. She began receiving awards from 1936; the Hallgarten Prize at the National Academy of Design, and award medals from the National Arts Club, Montclair Art Museum, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe, Hudson Valley Art Association and Grumbacher Society.
